The signs of menopause start as early as 35 years of age. There is physical as well as mental stress during this time. Memory loss, depression, irritability, mood swings all occur during this time. People around fail to understand what is wrong with you and are baffled by your behavior. Even you know that something s wrong with you as you start reacting to news which never concerns you.
The physical changes are abnormal vaginal bleeding, hot flashes, and mood changes. Late symptoms include vaginal dryness and irritation, osteoporosis, and heart disease. Shorter or longer periods, heavier or lighter menstrual bleeding, and varying lengths of time between periods may be a sign that menopause is near.
Hot flushes are a sure sign of menopause. This produces a sudden sensation of warmth or even intense heat that spreads over various parts of the body, especially the chest, face, and head. It lasts for a few seconds and makes your heart beat faster than usual. This often requires treatment in the woman.
Weight gain is another sign of menopause. Due to water retention and hormonal changes occurring during this time a woman tends to put on weight. Natural remedies and physical exercise can help in reducing weight. It is not clear whether this weight gain is due to age or menopause.
Bones become brittle and loose their vitality leading to osteoporosis. Soy and calcium intake can help in strengthening of bones. Milk and milk products help in building calcium content in the body.
Another major stress is mood swings. Taking a mild dose of anti depressant helps in relieving the stress. A healthy atmosphere at home and kindness from loved ones will go a long way in lifting your spirits.
