What’s the menopause average age? Menopause can come anytime between the ages of 40 years-50 years. Sometimes in rare cases it can even occur at 30 years of age. It usually a time that most women dread and can be quite traumatic but when you know what to expect it can sometimes not be as bad as you anticipated.
Usually menopause begins with irregular bleeding. In that your periods may be closer or further apart. They will also become less heavy and eventually stop altogether. Be careful during this time, as you can still get pregnant.
Another early sign of menopause can be hot flashes and night sweats. There are some treatments for these if they are causing a lot of discomfort. Depression and mood swings are also quite common and can cause some problems not only to you but others around you. You may also find that you are not thinking as clearly as you should, and memory can be impaired
There are also circumstances that will precipitate an early menopause, like having a hysterectomy, or just having ovaries or a partial hysterectomy done. Symptoms can be severe or vary considerably when this happens.
Chemotherapy can also bring on menopause at an earlier age. Premature ovarian failure can also occur in a small percentage of women under 40 years. Genetic or hereditary problems and autoimmune diseases can cause this.
As you can see there is no hard and fast rule as to when you can expect menopause, but it will generally occur between the ages of 50years –60 years. This can also coincide with middle age and the fact that you are slowing down physically. Sometimes this can be a time of life that is hard to accept, after all nobody wants to get old. However there are a few things that can help you with this.
One of the problems with middle age and menopause is weight gain. Your metabolism slows down and when you burn fewer calories you will experience some weight gain. Added to this is the fact that due to hormone changes you can also put on weight. This makes it a double problem.
It is very important to maintain your health by changing your eating habits and cutting down on the high-energy foods like carbohydrates and fats. It is also important to cut down sugar as diabetes 2 can also develop at this age.
Once you know what to expect you can then handle menopause better and not get so traumatized and stressed out.
